Somatic Movement
Eliminating muscle pain, stiffness, and the feeling of “getting old” starts with the brain.
If you have “tried everything” to relieve your back, neck, shoulder, knee, or hip pain for the long term and have only experienced short term relief (or none at all), then Essential Somatic Movement is for you! Trauma, stress, and postural compensations change the way the brain senses and moves us, and how we experience ourselves on a physical and emotional level. Using the core principles of Somatic Movement, I will teach you to restore fluid, effortless, and joyful movement into everyday life. This class will focus on movements performed consciously, with the focus on the internal experience, rather than the external appearance or result of the movement. We will explore your own "Sensory Motor Amnesia" through pandiculation, a powerful technique that restores sensory and motor function and lengthens muscles without forcing. Once the muscles are relaxed, posture and functioning return to normal, and flexibility returns. You will often feel more energetic, since you require much less effort to do things like stand, walk, dance, and exercise. Come and learn to be more present and comfortable in your body and in your life.

"If life means movement and death means non-movement, then it may be permissible to think that more movement means more life and less movement means less life... Conversely, it will be made very clear that to enhance efficiency of bodily movement is to enhance the vitality of human beings in all of their functions , whether physical, mental or emotional."
Thomas Hanna (founder of Somatic Movement)
